Color Wheel Fish

Second grade has been working on using their skills of color mixing to create a array of colorful fish. This lesson came from Deep Space Sparkle. Patti is my got to lady, when I need a great lesson planned out from beginning to end.

We began with tracing the ovals, adding the detail and then using the primay colors to paint three fish. The next week we finished painting the other three fish by mixing our primary to make secondary colors.



I used a different color blue tinted with white for the water. I didn't want to wash out the blue fish. I noticed after all the paint was on, we need to outline the fish and their details again, to make them pop. I don't have awesome small paintbrushes to outline them in black paint, plus the quality of my black paint is not up to my standard. The next best thing to use is black oil pastel, so this is how we will complete the artwork. Here are some photos of them working:
