Weaving

I remember when I was a student at Hillcrest and Mrs. Christoph introduced us to weaving. I was excited to pass on the technique to my art major students. Using materials from packing materials that came with my supplies and yarn donated from Mrs. Padgett we dug into the process. I prepare the boards by marking on both ends every quarter of an inch. I also cut the first few lines and demonstarted how to bend back every other tab. It took a good 2 weeks for most everyone to complete the board, even though they were only about 7 inches long. Here are a few pictures I snapped as they were working.

  1. I would really like to do this with second grade. Do you think it is a appropriate age group. I volunteer Art time at my daughters school and thing it would be great! How to I prep the boards, if you could give me a brief tutorial or where I could find the information. Thanks, Eva Ulibarri
