State Art

My family just traveled to Tennessee for our kids to see snow. As I sat in the truck for the long 13 hours, I observed billboards and noticed as you enter each state their content changes. From Florida beaches to Georgia's peaches and pecans and Tennessee's music. I had an idea to draw these unique attributes of each state within each state. I also love the organic shapes of each state and how the little bumps, curves and lines mean something to us, home. It is a comfort to see that shape of your home state especially when you no longer live there. Like my mother, who was born and raised in Alabama. I decided that I would do something similar for her but make it more personal to her life story. Highlighting her college, where she met my Dad, where she lived most of her life, where her grandparents, and parents lived and we visit. Here are a few pictures of her present.
