My 4th and 5th graders have been working steadily on their clay coil pots. Once I demonstrated and show some pictures I passed out the red clay and let them get to it. Some were ready to go and had a goal to make it very tall, while others I had to coax to make a very small pot. We had a few mishaps, since my art room doesn't have a lot of space my drying area is near the line up area. After repeating over and over to be careful of what is around us I had to help fix some that little hands broke. Also had my first project blow up in the kiln. One of the pots bottom blew out due to an air pocket. Hopefully we can make another one or make her coil pot into a planter with drainage. Here are a few photos of the onces we just fired.
