Symmetrical Butterflies

My 1st graders have been working on symmetrical butterflies. First we discussed symmetry and how the butterflies design needs to be the same on both sides. Using a lesson from Deep Space Sparkle we folded our paper and drew half a butterfly with an oil pastel. Once half was drawn we closed it like a book and rubbed it onto the other side, then traced it. We added watercolor and mounted on a black paper to make it look awesome.
