Oranges, Oranges, and more Oranges

Its that time again, the Citrus Art Show. It has been difficult to have every one's citrus art completed by the deadline due to mock testing and actual testing. I have had to cancel art class to proctor the SAT 10 and mock FCAT. Now they have taken me out of the rotation due to kindergarten not having art for 3 weeks. Every grade level is working on some type of citrus art, focusing on oranges, since they are so colorful and delicious.

Kindergarten made a collage orange tree, since they were studying Eric Carle. We painted paper orange and brown. The brown made the tree, the orange, well the oranges. We then used chalk to create the clouds (they thought rubbing the chalk was just amazing), used sponge dipped in green and yellow to make the greenery. Lastly they glued it all together.

First Grade worked on a drawing of orange slices. We drew it with pencil, colored it with oil pastels then outlined it with black oil pastel.

Second Grade was behind so they are beginning theirs today. Drawing a still life of an orange half and orange slice. They will be using tempera paint for the oranges, oil pastel for the detail, and watercolor for the background.

Third Grade drew an orange half in front of two oranges with leaves surrounding it. They drew with pencil, outlined with glue then we are working on  using chalk pastels to color it in.

As they complete their artwork I will add more pictures!
